Remembering a task is different from being interrupted for it.

Todo Trackr brings task capture and follow-through into one workspace. I built a web app, Chromium Quick Capture extension, and native Mac companion around the same task model, with a clear distinction between a due date and an alarm that needs acknowledgment.

Tasks arrive while browsing and working in other apps. A useful task manager needs quick capture, familiar organization, and a way to ask for attention without treating every due date as an alarm or requiring a particular work-system account.

What I built.

  • A React workspace with lists, stars, priorities, due dates, search, smart views, task export, and recovery of deleted tasks.
  • A Quick Capture extension that turns a browser selection or page title into a task while retaining its source URL.
  • Persistent attention alarms, separate from due dates, and a native SwiftUI companion that connects to the user's server.
  • A standalone Node.js and PostgreSQL deployment with Docker Compose, explicit authentication modes, database migrations, and revision-checked edits across clients.

Make the app independent of my personal setup.

One owner uses each installation. The standalone release does not require Shortcut, Granola, Codex, App Switchr, or a maintainer-hosted account. Password protection is the default; passwordless access must be deliberately configured for a private installation. The Mac app is source-only, rather than advertised as a ready-to-install download.

Where it landed.

A self-hostable task workspace with a compiled server and web release, an unpacked Chromium extension, and Mac source. Each client connects to the same server, keeping capture and task management together without making the user's workspace public.
